Portsmouth eased their relegation worries with a 4-2 win over Charlton and handed new French manager Alain Perrin a vital first victory to move seven points clear of the drop zone.
Two late second-half goals by Diomansy Kamara and Lomana Tresor LuaLua sealed the win over the London side, after a Danny Murphy free kick and a Jonathon Fortune header had cancelled out goals by Aiyegbeni Yakubu and Steve Stone.
Nigerian striker Yakubu got Portsmouth off to the perfect start, stroking home a goal from close range in the third minute after a cross by Steve Stone.
Charlton's Shaun Bartlett saw an effort go left of the post on the quarter hour.
But it was former England international Stone who scored next, heading home a cross by Czech midfielder Patrik Berger in the 20th minute.
Charlton responded almost immediately, Jonathon Fortune connecting with a Danny Murphy cross two minutes later.
On the stroke of half-time, former Liverpool star Murphy converted a free kick awarded after Arjan De Zeeuw brought down Jerome Thomas to make it 2-2.
Portsmouth upped the pressure in the second-half, Yakubu and Stone both shooting over the bar, while Charlton defender Hermann Hreidarsson went close with a header at the other end.
Charlton goalkeeper Dean Kiely then saved a shot from Congo international Lomana Tresor LuaLua and Yakubu saw a strike hit the woodwork.
After Berger brought down Francis Jeffers on the edge of the box in the 71st minute, Murphy had another chance of a free kick but his 20-yard effort was punched away by Portsmouth keeper Jamie Ashdown.
With eight minutes to play, Portsmouth substitute Diomansy Kamara rose to meet a LuaLua cross to make it 3-2 to the south coast side.
LuaLua wrapped up a satisfying afternoon for his new manager, latching on to a Yakubu through ball to slot home from 18 yards in injury time.
