Town hoping to turn the tide against Linfield

Longford Town will hope to bring some overdue cheer to Flancare Park against Irish League champions and leaders Linfield in the Setanta Cup, Group 1 tie tonight.

Town have lost both their opening league games at home and also their first Setanta tie at Glentoran.

“We’re still quite confident we can get going,” says Town defender Sean Dillon.

“We really need to win tonight to restore confidence.” Linfield have prepared well for the match, staying overnight in Roosky.

Blues boss David Jeffrey reports a full squad to pick from and his side expects to be roared on by up to 600 travelling fans.

Town are without defender Alan Murphy (ankle).
