Pat Dolan was last night sacked as manager of Cork City last night, with the new eircom League season only three weeks away.

Several of Dolan's backroom staff left during the close season while the players themselves have expressed dissatisfaction with the current training facilities..

It has been reported that Damien Richardson and Liam Murphy will take charge of first team affairs.

Dolan and Cork City chairman Brian Lennox had endured an increasingly tumultuous relationship and their differences have apparently proven irreconcilable. 

Matters came to a head last week when Cork City players John O'Flynn and Joe Gamble publicly criticised the condition of a local GAA pitch that the club had been using for training.

Lennox had also been critical of the size and expense of Dolan's first team squad.
