Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has hit out at Harry Kewell's advisors and national team boss Frank Farina, insisting he knows what is best for the player.
The Australian winger has been disappointing since his move from Leeds in the summer of 2003 but his Anfield career has been dogged by injury and Farina believes the 26-year-old should be having surgery on troublesome groin and Achilles injuries rather than returning to action.
Kewell is set to play his first match since December tonight in the Champions League tie at home to Bayer Leverkusen but that has not stopped Benitez firing a broadside at those who also have a vested interest in the player.
"I am not happy with people around Harry talking all the time and not doing the right thing for the player," he said.
"His agent, Farina - a lot of people have been saying things. Well, we pay him, we know him, we control him and train him.
"The medical department know what to do. If those others are not happy, then we do not want to hear from them.
"We just want to see the best of Harry, no more. Anything else from anyone does not matter."
