Leicester defender Matt Elliott has retired after struggling to overcome knee problems.
The former Scottish international has been restricted to just three appearances this season despite surgery in the summer and last kicked a ball in anger in October.
The 36-year-old's professional career began at Charlton in 1988 with the Addicks paying non-league Epsom & Ewell £5,000 for him.
But after just one appearance for the London side, Elliott completed a £1,000 transfer to Torquay before spells with Scunthorpe and Oxford.
Martin O'Neill, then the Foxes manager, signed Elliott from Oxford for £1.6million in January 1997 with the player going on to make 290 appearances for Leicester, scoring 33 goals.
In all, Elliott made 719 career appearances in all competitions and scored 85 times.
