Rangers have completed the signing of Greece defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos for a £1.75million fee from Greek outfit Panathinaikos.
The defender, who will replace Jean-Alain Boumsong following the Frenchman's £8million move to Newcastle earlier in the month, has finally agreed to move to Ibrox, although the length of his contract is unknown.
The defender has won 10 caps for his country but missed out on Greece's shock Euro 2004 triumph because of a knee injury, which ironically he picked up against Rangers in a Champions League game last season.
Meanwhile, Blackburn chief executive John Williams has warned Rangers that his club are in healthy enough financial position to keep Barry Ferguson.
The Scotland skipper is still awaiting a response to the transfer request he handed in on Tuesday, with Rangers having had a £3million bid turned down.
Williams insisted said: "When I have gathered the collective view from our board, I will respond to Barry in writing. That will be at best Friday, probably Monday. There is no financial need to sell Barry at the moment."
