FAI to reveal details of new 'multi-million' deal

The FAI will tomorrow reveal news of a major new sponsorship injection for Irish soccer.

Details of the deal remain under wraps. However, a statement from Irish soccer's governing body today described it as "a multi-million euro sponsorship agreement."

The news is a further boost for the FAI and its interim chief executive John Delaney following the decision of the Irish Sports Council to restore €350,000 in funding to the assocation.

Delaney succeeded Fran Rooney as CEO last November, following a much-publicised period of in-fighting, which proved to be yet another public relations disaster for the association.

However, since bowing to Government demands to follow more closely the recommendations of the Genesis Report, the FAI's fortunes - both financially and in a PR sense - have, so far, been improving.
