Rangers have completed the signing of Belgian international Thomas Buffel from Feyenoord.

The 23-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half year deal after Rangers agreed a £2.3million fee with the Dutch club.

Buffel, who fell out of favour with Feyenoord coach Ruud Gullit and has not played since December 19, is determined to make his debut in the Tennent's Scottish Cup third round tie at Celtic on Sunday.

Buffel said: "I'm delighted to have joined such a great club and I can't wait to get started.

"Although I have not played for a couple of weeks I feel strong and ready for Sunday but it will be up to the coach if I play.

"I realise it is going to be a hot race for the league title but I have come here to do something to help Rangers win that title."

Rangers boss Alex McLeish admits Buffel is a player he has been tracking for some time before finally clinching his signature.

The Ibrox manager said: "He is very quick and is a striker who has an eye for goal."
