Spanish boss' comments come under scrutiny

Spain's Anti-Violence Commission have asked the country's football federation to open a disciplinary case against national team coach Luis Aragones.

The president of the commission, Rafael Blanco, announced details of the request today.

Blanco said: "The Anti-Violence Commission decided to urgently ask the federation to open a disciplinary case against Luis Aragones."

RFEF president Angel Maria Villar met with the commission this morning to discuss Aragones' comments prior to Spain's friendly against England last month.

Aragones attacked Britain's colonial past when questioned at length about racist remarks he had previously made about Arsenal striker Thierry Henry.

Blanco said: "The commission says that the law is equal for everybody and in this case it is necessary to open a file even though we are not the ones who will decide how it ends."

The decision has been based on article 76 in Spanish sporting law which categorises offences as grave, serious or very serious and can impose punishments from suspension from coaching duties for a fixed period or a heavy fine.
