Novo admits Pearson incident

Rangers striker Nacho Novo has admitted catching Celtic midfielder Stephen Pearson with his foot during the volatile Old Firm derby on November 20.

The Scottish Football Association disciplinary committee will discuss the incident, in which Novo's studs landed on Pearson's neck, at their next meeting on December 14 after television pictures showed the challenge.

But Novo insists there was no malice intended. He told the club's official website: "I did not mean to hit him, I never meant anything bad. I said sorry right away when I caught him but I did not mean to. It was a sliding challenge from him and I jumped up. I did hit him on the way down but I did not mean any harm. Now I will wait for the SFA's decision. I will not be happy if I get suspended but I will get on with it."

Celtic forward Henri Camara is also facing a similar SFA investigation after appearing to kick out at Gers' defender Gregory Vignal. The Senegal international has already admitted to giving the Frenchman a kick.
