Eircom League First Division side Athlone Town have today confirmed the appointment of Stephen Kelly as first team manager for the 2005 eircom League season.
Kelly was brought to Athlone at the start of the 2002/03 by then manager Jimmy Greene. He served as team captain for two seasons and earlier this season became caretaker manager after Aaron Callaghan deserted the club just ten games into the season.
The club say that the early appointment gives Kelly a great opportunity to hit the ground running next season, making a concerted push for promotion with his own squad.
