Finn Harps moved three points clear in the eircom League First Division with a convincing 2-0 win over Bray Wanderers in a top-of-the-table clash at Finn Park.

The win marked the 1000th league game for the Donegal men and the 500th at the famous venue.

Michael Funston opened the scoring in the 27th minute.  After Eloka Asokuh's initial shot was saved, Funston charged into the box to crash the rebound home from 12 yards.

The win was secured 17 minutes from time when Ian Rossiter got a crucial second goal for Harps. Rossiter scored from 22 yards out when his low hard shot found the bottom right corner of the net after a period of concerted pressure from the home side.

A bad night for Bray got even worse with the 89th minute sending off of veteran Eddie Gormley.

The victory means that Harps can ensure promotion with a win over Monaghan United next week.
