Shamed Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu believes that he has no future with the Stamford Bridge club following his admission to taking drugs, but is hopeful of a return to Serie A.
Mutu also accepts that Chelsea will suspend his £60,000-a-week wages during any possible suspension he is handed for his drug-taking.
And while he doesn't expect to be sacked by the club, he believes that he will either be sold or loaned out as soon as his suspension is up.
"I am almost certain Chelsea will not pay my contract during any suspension period I might get. But they will not sack me. It is true that even I find it hard to believe I have a future at Chelsea so, most probably, I'll have to go back and play in Italy again," he said.
"I'm glad to see there are still some nice people out there who are not simply trying to destroy me. Some people really want to help me through this."
Mutu also revealed the extent of his row with manager Jose Mourinho, with whom he had a major bust-up before his drug revelations came to light. The striker insisted on playing for Romania against the wishes of his manager who said he was too unfit to take part.
"I admit that in the heat of our confrontation I did threaten Mourinho. And, in a moment of total madness I almost hit him. But now I am calmer and I must say I have nothing against the coach," he said.
