Bohemians had Tony Grant to thank for stretching their long unbeaten league run to 14 games, as his late strike gifted the Gypsies a point against Waterford.

Grant headed home in stoppage time following a throw from player-manager Gareth Farrelly to cancel out Daryl Murphy’s 16th minute opener – his 18th in all competitions this season – for the Blues.

Murphy looked like giving Alan Reynolds’ side the perfect send off before Sunday’s Carlsberg FAI Cup Final decider against holders Longford at Lansdowne Road, but it would have been a travesty had Bohs gone back to Dublin empty handed.

Only two fine saves in the second half from reserve goalkeeper Packie Holden had kept the Dubliners at bay.

However Holden, only playing because Dan Connor was rested, was powerless to stop Grant’s back header looping in over him in time added on.

Murphy had volleyed Waterford in front on 16 minutes, finishing an Alan Carey cross in some style. Then, Kevin Waters hit the inside of the post as the Gypsies rode their luck. But it was a different story after the break.

Elsewhere, was no action in the St Patricks and Drogheda clash at Richmond Park due to floodlight failure.  After a 35 minute delay referee Dave McKeon took the decision at 8.20pm to cancel the match after one of the eight pylons in one corner of the ground failed to come back on.
