Aston Villa manager David O'Leary looks set to extend his stay at Villa Park after revealing that he's eager to sign a new deal with the Premiership outfit.
The former Irish international has been a hit with the Villa faithful since taking over from Graham Taylor in 2003, narrowly missing out on a European place last season despite a shoe-string budget.
Now O'Leary has revealed his eagerness to sign a new deal and said: " I'm going to wait for the chairman to get back to me about that but I've told him I'm willing to sign a new contract because I like the place."
"We just had a preliminary first round discussion and it went well enough. It is as simple as that really. Nothing has been finalised but hopefully there will be another meeting in a week's time."
Villa are believed to be offering O'Leary a deal that will tie him to the club until 2008, however the amount of transfer money available to him in that time-frame will be a major factor in his decision.
The Villa boss often has stated the need to bring in a further four players to bolster one of the smallest squads in the Premiership after last season undertaking a massive cost-cutting exercise with 15 players being offloaded.
