France further weakened by Giuly withdrawal

France have suffered another setback ahead of Saturday's World Cup qualifier against the Republic of Ireland with the withdrawal of Ludovic Giuly because of a leg muscle injury.

The Barcelona playmaker, who will also miss Wednesday's trip to Cyprus, joins Juventus attacker David Trezeguet on the sidelines.

Trezeguet has already been replaced in the squad by Marseille's Peguy Luyindula.

French coach Raymond Domenech is also without the suspended Patrick Vieira and injured duo Jerome Rothen and Benoit Pedretti.
