Juventus striker David Trezeguet is set to miss France's World Cup qualifiers against Ireland on Saturday and Cyprus next Wednesday because of a lingering shoulder injury.
"I'm afraid it's over for both games, unfortunately," said Trezeguet, who was replaced at half-time by Juventus in their 1-0 Serie A victory at Udinese on Sunday.
Trezeguet said he had dislocated his left shoulder six times in recent months and was considering surgery.
"It's a real jinx, honestly, especially as I had had a good start to the season. I was feeling well and I got injured again at the very moment when I was making it back to the French squad," he told sports daily l'Equipe.
Meanwhile, Republic of Ireland manager Brian Kerr today reported a clean bill of health for all the Irish squad members involved in English Premiership and Championship action at the weekend.
The squad will assemble in Dublin tomorrow.
