Warren scores six as Cobh run riot

Cobh's Dave Warren turned in a stunning virtuoso performance to score six times as his side recorded an 8-1 victory over an inept Monaghan United at St. Colman's Park tonight.

The tally smashed the club record for goals scored by one player in a competitive fixture and the Mayfield native has proved to have been a shrewd purchase from neighbours Cork City.

Kildare County and Bray Wanderers scored maximum points in their respective matches to maintain the pressure on the league leaders.

Sligo Rovers slumped to defeat at home to their nearest rivals Athlone Town despite taking an early lead.
