Limerick FC 1 Dundalk 2

Dundalk moved up to sixth place in the Eircom League First Division table after a 2-1 away over Limerick FC at Pike Rovers SG this afternoon.

After a scoreless and uneventful first half, Alan Murphy pounced just two minutes into the second half to put the Louthmen ahead. Trevor Vaughan then put them two up with a quarter of an hour left on the clock.

David Conway pulled one back for the Blues on 88 minutes but, despite a late surge, they couldn’t snatch an equaliser.

Limerick remain three points adrift of Monaghan United at the bottom of the table but have played a game more than the Northerners.

Elsewhere tonight, Sligo Rovers beat Galway United 3-1 at The Showgrounds.

Paul McTiernan knocked in the first on 21 minutes. Conor Frawley added the second on 32 before Steve Feeney got one back for the visitors on 41 minutes.

Rafael Cretaro then made sure of the points for the bit o' red when he netted on 71 minutes.

Meanwhile, a 90th minute strike from Kevin McHugh gave Finn Harps victory over Kilkenny City at Buckley Park and sent the Donegal men back to the top of the table.
