Kildare County moved ever closer to the Bray Wanderers and the final promotion spot after a 2-0 win over Limerick FC in the eircom League First Division at Station Road last night.

Sean Francis struck the first on 32 minutes from the penalty spot. Ref Hilda McDermott had awarded the penalty after Mick Aherne had upended Alan Kelly in the box.

Kelly got the second on 50 minutes when slotted home from close range after being set up by Francis.

The defeat leaves Limerick rooted to the bottom of the table, three points adrift of Monaghan United.
