This weekend's Premiership previews

Aston Villa v Newcastle

Villa could have Lee Hendrie back in their midfield after missing the last two games with a shoulder injury.

Goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen is having treatment for a bruised knee, with Stefan Postma on stand-by should the Dane be ruled out.

Jermaine Jenas is hoping to shake off a minor knee injury and challenge Kieron Dyer for a midfield place. Lee Bowyer, used as a late substitute on Wednesday, is still short of match fitness, while Titus Bramble has a hamstring problem and Darren Ambrose a knee injury.

Blackburn v Man Utd

New Blackburn signing Morten-Gamst Pedersen is poised to make his debut in tomorrow's Ewood Park clash against Manchester United.

Blackburn manager Graeme Souness has skipper Barry Ferguson available again after the midfielder missed Wednesday's 3-0 defeat at Arsenal through suspension.

Jonathan Spector could retain his place in the Manchester United team for the match against Blackburn at Ewood Park tomorrow.

Phil Neville, though, is also pushing for a place in the team as is Louis Saha after recovering from a knee injury.

Chelsea v Southampton

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has been passed fit to face Southampton at Stamford Bridge tomorrow despite an ankle injury picked up in the midweek win over Crystal Palace.

Alexei Smertin and Wayne Bridge are also recalled to the squad but Italian goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini, who has lost his place to new signing Petr Cech, will miss training for at least two weeks after damaging an elbow.

Midfielder Paul Telfer will continue in defence for Southampton as they prepare for the visit to Chelsea  tomorrow.

Left-back Graeme Le Saux is fit to face his former side after overcoming a minor knock suffered in the Bolton defeat. But new signing Alledine Yahia has been left out of the squad while Matthew Oakley, Marian Pahars and Michael Svensson are still injured.

Everton v West Brom

Everton striker Kevin Campbell has overcome a knee injury picked up at Crystal Palace last weekend and is in the squad for the home game against West Brom.

Everton will be without the suspended Gary Naysmith, sent off against Palace, while defender Li Tie is back in training after the Asian Cup but is not considered to be match fit.

West Brom are set to name an unchanged side for tomorrow's clash with Everton at Goodison Park.

Albion are once again without their Welsh international midfielder Jason Koumas. He is serving the final game of a four-match ban that he picked up at the end of last season.

Albion's only casualties remain striker Rob Hulse (stomach strain) and central defender Larus  Sigurdsson, who is continuing his recovery from a long-term knee injury.

Man City v Charlton

Richard Dunne is available again for Manchester City tomorrow after serving a one-match ban. Steve McManaman could also come into contention after an Achilles injury.

Alan Curbishley looks set to name an unchanged Charlton side for the clash.

Shaun Bartlett remains doubtful because of ankle ligament damage with Matt Holland also sidelined because of an ankle problem.

Middlesbrough v Crystal Palace

Middlesbrough midfielder George Boateng is a major doubt for tomorrow's home Barclays Premiership clash with Crystal Palace.

Ugo Ehiogu will have a fitness test on his back injury while full-back Michael Reiziger will have an operation on his shoulder tomorrow which will sideline him for two months.

For Crystal Palace Michael Hughes is rated doubtful with a calf injury.

Striker Sandor Torghelle will have a late fitness test but Neil Shipperley (knee) and Danny Butterfield (hamstring) remain sidelined.

Birmingham v Tottenham

Jermain Defoe could be rested for Tottenham’s clash with Birmingham which would mean that Robbie Keane would partner Freddie Kanoute up-front.

Cameroon defender Thimothee Atouba is a doubt with a knee problem and long-term casualty Simon Davies is ruled out, but midfielder Michael Carrick could make his club debut.

Birmingham manager Steve Bruce is sweating over the fitness of strike duo Emile Heskey (ankle) and Clinton Morrison (knee).

Definitely ruled out through injury are Stan Lazaridis, Jamie Clapham and David Dunn.

Robbie Savage will be serving the second match of a three-game ban for violent conduct.

Norwich v Arsenal

Norwich will be without on-loan Arsenal midfielder David Bentley for tomorrow's date with the Premiership champions.

Gary Doherty is likely to continue alongside Darren Huckerby in attack. In defence, Phil Mulryne (groin) remains a doubt.

Edu returns to Arsenal's squad for the game while Patrick Vieira has just missed out on a place on the bench after advice from the Arsenal medical staff that he risked a recurrence of his thigh problems.

Sol Campbell is, meanwhile, still absent with an Achilles injury that will rule him out of England duty over the next fortnight.

Bolton v Liverpool (Sunday)

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce again has a full squad to choose from for Sunday's Reebok Stadium clash against Liverpool.

El-Hadji Diouf, who last week signed on a year-long loan deal from Liverpool, has now acquired his work permit, but is not allowed to play against his parent club due to Premier League rules.

Liverpool will give Premiership debuts to new signings Luis Garcia and Xabi Alonso. 

Josemi, is expected to return from a back injury which forced him out of Tuesday's Champions League home defeat by Graz AK.
