Boudewijn Zenden signed his Middlesbrough contract today and set his sights on bringing further glory to the club. The Dutch midfielder, who turns 28 later this month, has signed a one-year deal after a successful loan from Chelsea last season.
Zenden was a key member of the Boro's Carling Cup winning side and is confident he can add to his medal collection after completing a permanent move to the Riverside Stadium.
Steve McClaren has also signed Michael Reiziger, Mark Viduka, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, and Ray Parlour.
"I'm very pleased to be here," Zenden said. "It shows that I really enjoyed my time last year. We won a cup, got ourselves into Europe and definitely got the club on to another level.
"All the players that have come in have plenty of quality and a lot of experience. Players that know what to do to actually win games and win trophies.
"It shows that the players are hungry, just like me. I'm here to win things. We won something last year and we want to build on what we did last year."
Manager Steve McClaren was delighted his latest recruit came on a free transfer just three summers after moving from Barcelona for £7.5m.
He firmly believes the former PSV Eindhoven player completes his squad and is anticipating the new campaign with some relish.
"What he brings on and off the field is tremendous experience and great influence, McClaren said. He was one of our best players last year and our top goalscorer from midfield, and for me, he's the final piece in the jigsaw."
