Real Madrid's Roberto Carlos could stay at the club for another four years before heading back to Brazil and then possibly Asia.
He said: "I still have three years of my contract left to run at Real Madrid with the option of a fourth year, so I could be here for another four years. I think that I will finish playing in Europe after my Real contract expires, then I will go home to Brazil. After that, I am thinking about playing in Asia."
He did not specify which Asian country he had in mind but made no secret of his admiration for Japan.
"The Japanese people have been unbelievably hospitable towards all of us at Real Madrid. They treat us really, really well and that makes us feel good," he added.
