John Gill has resigned his position as manager of Dublin City

Eircom League Premier Division side Dublin City have announced that John Gill has resigned his position as manager with immediate effect. Gill tendered his resignation following last night's FAI Carlsberg Cup defeat at the hands of Monaghan United and head coach Noel White has assumed temporary control of first team affairs.

Club Chief Executive Ronan Seery said: "Personally I am very disappointed that John has resigned because I know just how much he put into the role and how much he cares about the welfare of Dublin City FC. On foot of last night's defeat and given the perilous position of the club in the league, he felt that it was both honorable and proper that someone else be afforded the opportunity to take the club forward."

Seery continued: "We will act quickly to appoint a suitable successor to John Gill and I now call on the playing, coaching and administrative staff to unite behind Dublin City FC to ensure that the best interests of the club are met in as thorough and professional a way as possible."
