The president of the French Football Federation (FFF) has revealed that Jacques Santini would have been offered a contract extension if he had not agreed to move to Tottenham. FFF chief Claude Simonet said there would have been no problem in offering Santini a new deal, but he had already accepted the challenge from White Hart Lane.
He said: "You can't change the past but I would have extended the contract of the coach. It was foreseen that it would be offered by the counsel and the contract would be signed by Jacques Santini and the Federation."
John Tigana, Laurent Blanc and Raymond Domenech are all names that have been closely linked with the role, but Simonet is not prepared to discuss these three names publicly.
