Charlton Athletic have agreed a deal with PSV Eindhoven to take Danish international striker Dennis Rommedahl to The Valley, according to the Dutch club.
A report on the PSV's official website, www.psv.nl, said: "An agreement with Charlton Athletic concerning a possible transfer of Dennis Rommedahl has been reached. Rommedahl must reach an agreement with the club."
However, Charlton chief executive Peter Varney had earlier played down reports that Rommedahl will be joining his club and said: "The stories circulating at the moment are typical of the sort of press speculation that always goes on at this stage of the summer."
"Whether or not we are interested in players at the championships, it is widely known that the national team managers will not allow any of their players to conduct transfer negotiations while they are still involved," he added.
Charlton manager Alan Curbishley is believed to have made signing a top striker his main priority this summer and Rommedahl is certainly a player that could fit the bill.
