Switzerland veterans Stephane Chapuisat and Fabio Celestini have quit international football following their team's elimination from Euro 2004.

The duo join goalkeeper Jorg Stiel in retirement. Stiel had already declared that Euro 2004 would be his swansong with the national team.

Chapuisat was voted by his country's journalists as the best footballer the nation has produced in the last 50 years and departs the stage at the age of 34 with a record 21 goals for the national team. He is a veteran of the Swiss team that played in the 1994 World Cup and Euro `96.

He also helped German club Borussia Dortmund win the 1997 Champions League and the Intercontinental Cup.
