Spain defender Ivan Helguera is desperate to help his country avoid another disappointing performance in a major competition. Helguera concedes Spain have a reputation as perennial underachievers after a history of failure in international tournaments.
And he told Diario AS: "I don't fear any one of our rivals but if we are talking about fear, I fear Spain, because I think that if we do well, we can go a long way and if we do badly, we could get knocked out in the group."
He added: "When I say I fear Spain, that is not a criticism; I know the team we have, but if we look at the last World Cups or European Championships, we have played really well against strong rivals and not so well against weaker ones."
