Citing the travel involved in the job,  Aaron Callaghan has resigned as manager of First Division Athlone Town.

Dublin based Callaghan only took up the job before the start of the season, succeeding Jimmy Greene, who held the position for two seasons.

Current assistant manager Padraig Dully will take charge of team affairs for this weekend's game away to Cobh Ramblers, in a caretaker capacity.

The Club's Management Committee will meet next week to discuss a permanent replacement.
