Leeds United today confirmed Eddie Gray will no longer be manager of the Elland Road club with immediate effect. Gray met with managing director David Richmond this morning and following what has been described as an amicable exchange, the decision leaves Leeds looking for their fifth manager in two years.
The popular Scot, however, is to remain at the club in a consultancy role and on a one-year contract, but his duties will not include any coaching responsibilities.
Gray's assistant, Kevin Blackwell, will now take charge of the team for Leeds' final match of the season against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Chairman Gerald Krasner said: "We had a very productive meeting with Eddie today and the decision was amicable. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Eddie for his contribution to
Leeds United this season - probably one of the hardest on record. But we are delighted Eddie has agreed to stay with us in a consultancy capacity so we can still benefit from his vast experience in the game."
