Diego Maradona's re-admission to a Buenos Aires hospital was due to an indigestion problem according to an official statement from the Suizo Argentina Clinic.
Nearly a week after leaving the hospital, where he had spent 11 days in the intensive care unit with severe cardiac and pulmonary problems, Maradona was re-admitted at around 5am Buenos Aires time yesterday.
A hospital statement described Maradona's condition as "stable".
It said he was being treated in intensive care "because there were individual rooms allowing greater privacy and constant surveillance for patients".
Maradona's personal doctor Alfredo Cahe said that the 1986 World Cup winner will be in hospital for two or three days, saying he needed a health check-up before leaving for Cuba.
