Leeds promise quick decision on Gray's future

Leeds United have promised to make a quick decision on the future of manager Eddie Gray after they were relegated from the Premiership.

Gray, a Leeds legend from his time as a player, took over at Elland Road in November following the sacking of Peter Reid, but he failed to save them from the drop and his future at Leeds is now in question.

Managing director David Richmond said: "This week I will be meeting with Eddie and going through what he thinks is wrong with this football club."

"I will report back to the board and they will decide if Eddie is going to be manager next season and that will be sorted out in the next week to 10 days," he added.

Should Gray be sacked, Leeds may have problems replacing him given their financial problems, however former Southampton manager Gordon Strachan has already been linked with a return to Elland Road.

Richmond also reiterated his intent to get big money for the likes of Alan Smith and Mark Viduka who are to be sold in the summer. The managing director insisted there would be no repeat of last season's Harry Kewell transfer, who joined Liverpool in a cut-price move.

Richmond said: "We have received offers for our footballers, a substantial amount of them, and from the top clubs in this country. We will sell our players for top money, that I am sure of. Some clubs are trying to nick our players and some clubs are offering genuine money."
