Ireland under-18s win Visey tournament

The Republic of Ireland under-18 side have won the Visey International tournament in Portugal today with a one-nil win over the host nation.

A Gerry Gill goal after ten minutes ensured that Ireland took six points from the first two games of the tournament. Today's other match was a 2-2 draw between Norway and Turkey which means that it is impossible for Ireland to be caught.

Ireland will play Norway on Saturday at 9.30.

Manager Noel O'Reilly said that the defeat of European champions Portugal was an indication of how well the team had done.
