No Newcastle return for LuaLua

Newcastle chairman Freddie Shepherd has confirmed that the club will not recall winger Lomana LuaLua from Portsmouth.

The Congo forward has been a roaring success during his loan spell at Fratton Park and will stay to help Pompey's fight against relegation despite fears he would be needed back at St James' Park as injury cover.

Shepherd was asked about the situation with the likes of Kieron Dyer, Jermaine Jenas, Craig Bellamy and Shola Ameobi al fighting fitness battles. However, he was adamant LuaLua would not be called back to Tyneside. He simply said: "It is not going to happen."

Pompey paid Newcastle £100,000 to take LuaLua on loan for the rest of the season in January.
