Charlton's South African defender, Mark Fish, will be sidelined for at least three weeks after an accident at home on Sunday night.
The news is a massive blow for Addicks boss Alan Curbishley, who now has just two fit specialist senior central defenders, Chris Perry and Jonathan Fortune, at his disposal.
Both Gary Rowett and Richard Rufus are also currently out of action and some way from a first team return, although Rowett has featured for the reserves several times in recent weeks.
South African Fish has been one of Charlton's star performers this season, having made 25 appearances for the Addicks and established a fine partnership with Perry.
