Portsmouth have signed Newcastle striker Lomana LuaLua on-loan for the remainder of the season. If the 23-year-old impresses at Fratton Park, a permanent deal could go through in the summer. Harry Redknapp has also secured the services of Leicester defender John Curtis.
Meanwhile Leicester City have signed striker Lee Morris from Derby County for a nominal fee. Morris to put pen to paper on a two and-a-half-year deal with the Foxes subject to him passing a medical. Birmingham have completed the signing of versatile Blackburn defender Martin Taylor for £1.25million. The 24-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the St Andrews club.
West Ham have signed 21-year-old right-sided lder Sebastien Carole on loan from Monaco until the end of the season. And while there may be no new signings at Liverpool, the club have decided to terminated the contract of Portuguese defender Abel Xavier by mutual consent. The defender still had 18 months do run on his present deal at Anfield.
Blackburn have completed the signing of 20-year-old Huddersfield striker Jonathan Stead. Middlesbrough have signed World Cup winner Ricardinho until the end of the season. The 27-year-old central midfielder has 10 caps for his country.
