Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson has confirmed that the Old Trafford club are hoping to sign PSV Eindhoven striker Arjen Robben, and talks with his current club are already underway.
The Old Trafford outfit, who want to sign a striker to support Ruud van Nistelrooy, have also been linked with Fulham's Louis Saha and Ferguson confirmed that United are keen on Robben. He said: "We are interested in him. Nothing's been finalised but we hope to do business with PSV."
Spanish giants Real Madrid are also believed to be tracking the 19-year-old striker, but the player's mother Marjo has insisted that her son is not interested in a move to Spain.
She said: "The things he thinks about when he has to make the final decision on his new club is who is the manager, how does he work with the players, will he have a chance to compete with the current players in the squad and what is the club culture like."
"Those things mean more to my son than any kind of money. Look at Real Madrid. What would be the point of signing for them? He would arrive in a squad full of big names and big stars, where the president swaps his top names every summer like second hand cars."
