UEFA's executive committee today confirmed they had nominated Celtic supporters for the 2003 FIFA Fair Play Award. The fans' behaviour in Seville in and around the UEFA Cup final last May - when the club lost to Porto - won over the wider football community.
UEFA spokesman Mike Lee said: "We felt it right that when FIFA came to us for nominations for the world award we should nominate them (the Celtic fans). The whole of that week they were just magnificent, even after their side were defeated."
