Cork City have unveiled a series of lucrative sponsorship deals, including a four year deal with car manufacturers Nissan. Nissan Ireland take over title sponsorship of the club from Guinness who will continue their longstanding relationship with Cork City FC as the club's 'Official Beer Supplier'.
Speaking at the conference, Cork City Chairman Brian Lennox said: "This is a momentous day for the club. The importance of the NISSAN sponsorship cannot be overstated. Financially, this will be of great benefit to us and will assist greatly with our ambitious development plans both on and off the pitch."
He continued: "I am very excited by NISSAN's commitment to the club and by their intention to position us at the heart of their marketing activities in the region. I would also like to pay tribute to GUINNESS for their continued support and loyalty over the years and look forward to continuing that relationship for many more years to come."
Commenting on the announcement Gerard O'Toole, executive chairman, Nissan Ireland said: "Nissan Ireland is delighted to become associated with such a high profile and progressive Irish soccer club. Our partnership with Cork City will enable Nissan to increase its profile in Cork and the surrounding areas. We are confident that Cork City will be at the forefront of Irish soccer for many years to come & we look forward to a successful partnership over the years. "
Cork City also formally launched a new sponsorship agreement with O'NEILLS Sportswear which will see the club wear O'NEILLS kit for the next four seasons. Commenting on the deal, Cormac Farrell, Business Development Manager of O'Neills said: "We are absolutely thrilled to be part of the 'Rebel Army'. Cork City is already by far the biggest club in Ireland in terms of support and we look forward to playing our part in helping the club to become the most successful on the pitch as well."
The new O’Neills, Cork City Home shirt complete with the NISSAN logo will be available in the shops on Saturday, December 13.
The series of announcements was completed when City confirmed that Neale Fenn has signed for the club on a three-year contract. Fenn, who has played in the Premiership with Spurs was also part of Brian Kerr's third place finishing team at the Under-20 World Cup in Malaysia.
City manager Pat Dolan said: "I am thrilled that Neale has signed for us. He was my number one target for next season. It is particularly encouraging for us that Neale has signed despite also being wanted by the big Dublin clubs also."
Fenn added: "I am very excited about the move to Cork. This is the club that has impressed me most since my arrival in the eircom League and I can't wait make my home debut at Turner's Cross."
