Blackburn sign Enckelman on loan deal

Blackburn Rovers have confirmed the loan signing of Finnish goalkeeper Peter Enckelman from Aston Villa.

A crop of injuries has allowed the club to seek special dispensation from the Premier League to take the Finnish international on loan for a month.

Enckelman joined the Midlands side from hometown club TPS Turku in February 1999 and has made 51 first team appearances. He arrives as specialist goalkeeping cover for Brad Friedel, who is currently the only fit senior stopper at Ewood Park.

Alan Kelly was sidelined with a dislocated finger and has since undergone knee surgery while David Yelldell has picked up a shoulder injury and could be out for several weeks.

Enckelman is expected to be on the bench when Rovers entertain Everton at Ewood Park on Monday night.
