Dolan's Cork win to move up to third place

Although officially termed the ‘away side’, Pat Dolan’s Cork enjoyed a two-goal win at Turner’s Cross tonight, their third in their last six League games, moving them up to third in the Premier Division table.

The game turned in City’s favour on 57 minutes when Rovers’ right-back Trevor Croly was given his marching orders by referee Damien Hancock for a bad challenge on Cork striker Kevin Doyle, resulting in his second booking of the night.

Eight minutes later midfielder Kevin Murray latched onto a George O’Callaghan free kick to curl his diving header past Barry Ryan and into the Hoops’ net.

And with twenty minutes remaining, the points were sealed for Dolan’s men with O’Callaghan running through onto a Greg O’Halloran header over the Rovers’ cover, to give keeper Ryan no chance from twelve yards.

Liam Buckley's side have now lost four of their last six games in the league, and lie seventh.
