Dermot Keely has resigned as Derry City's manager following the Candystripes' 2-0 defeat to fellow eircom League Premier Division strugglers UCD at The Brandywell last night.
Keely tendered his resignation to the Board of Directors stating that he didn't have what was required to secure the Brandywell club's position in the top flight.
The former Shelbourne, Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk boss only took the job in July, when he succeeded Kevin Mahon.
However, Keely could not reverse City's poor start to the season and the club now lie second from bottom of the table, just two points ahead of the Students. He failed win a league fixture during his tenure, with his only victory in 12 attempts coming in the FAI Cup third round replay 1-0 victory over Cobh Ramblers.
