Former Shamrock Rovers assistant boss Mick Cooke has been appointed the new manager of Monaghan United. Cooke, who has also been in charge of the Irish Senior Ladies' team, will be assisted by Monaghan's current under-21 coach, Eamon Reilly. Jimmy Kelly, who has until now worked alongside Cooke at Ballyfermot United in the Leinster Senior League, has been recruited as the eircom League First Division side's first team coach. Cooke replaces Bobby Browne who resigned last week with the Century Homes Park outfit rooted to the bottom of the table and once again struggling to avoid re-election.
