Everton's Lee Carsley is set to fly to Dublin to join up with the Republic of Ireland squad after proving his fitness for the Goodison Park club's reserve team last night. Carsley has missed the start of the season with a knee injury but returned to action in last night’s Reserve League match with Wolves which Everton won 5-0.
Carsley laid on the second goal when his corner was headed in by Sean O'Hanlon and then provided Duncan Ferguson with his second goal of the night and Everton's third when his free-kick was headed home by the Scot. Carsley was substituted after an hour.
Meanwhile RTE Television have announced that they will be showing live coverage of the Russia v Switzerland Euro 2004 Group 10 Qualifier in Moscow on Wednesday evening. The game kicks off at 5 o'clock.
