Eircom League Division one strugglers Monaghan United have been deducted three points and fined €2,500 for fielding three unregistered players.
The three, Anthony Fennelly, David Nicholl and Jonathan Prizeman, lined out in the league tie with Dublin City on August 24th. The decision was taken at last night's Board of Control meeting in Merrion Square.
The Century Homes Park outfit now find themselves bottom of the Eircom League.
