Claude Makelele arrived in Chelsea last night an immediately made it known that Chelsea can be better than Real Madrid. The former Real star believes the London club can use it’s new found wealth to not only do well this season but to go on to dominate European Football in the coming years.
The signing of Makelele marks the end of Chelsea’s amazing summer spending spree and the Frenchman’s arrival at Stanford Bridge bring s Roman Abramovich’s outlay past the £100 million mark.
“Chelsea can be superior to Real Madrid in this very campaign - we can be a better team than them,” said the newly signed 30-year-old midfielder.
“Chelsea will play more as a unit. Madrid base their team around certain players. The squad Chelsea have put together is one of the best in the world – nobody can doubt that. I reckon Chelsea may dominate European football in the coming years.
The Frenchman eventually left Madrid following a row over money but has taken his new club straight to his heart: “Already they [Chelsea] have a more balanced team than Arsenal and Manchester United - especially in midfield,” he boasted.
