Bohemians and St Patrick's Athletic both cruised to impressive victories in the third round of the FAI Carlsberg Cup tonight.
BOHEMIANS 3-0 SKERRIES TOWNTen-man Skerries Town proved no match for Bohemians at Dalymount Park, succumbing to a three-goal defeat which included a debut brace from Stephen Ward. The deadlock was breached in the 36th minute when substitute Robbie Doyle redirected a Fergal Harkin corner towards the Town goal and Dave Morrison stabbed home from four yards.
Skerries' challenge fell asunder with Ed Doherty's sending-off midway through the second half for an elbow on Simon Webb. Midfielder Ward, an Irish under-19 squad member, netted from a Doyle cross on 78 minutes and eight minutes later had his second from a left sided Glen Crowe cross.
BRAY WANDERERS 1-2 WATERFORD UNITEDWaterford United mustered a second half revival at the Carlisle Grounds to ensure a fourth round berth for the first time in three years. Bray's recent signing Robbie McGuinness put the home side in front on 35 minutes with a wonderful 25-yard left foot shot past the stranded Dan Connor.
Ex-Celtic youth Vinny Sullivan levelled in the 66th minute with his sixth goal in five games, with a run through from a Connor clearance. The Blues snatched the winner four minutes later when another long ball caused Bray problems and Kevin O'Brien was on hand to slot home.

Striker Andy Myler glanced on Brian Kelly's 35th minute cross for O'Brien to score past Students 'keeper Pat Jennings. Just before the break a long ball from the Drogheda rear guard saw Jennings hesitate and allow O'Brien to head home the dropping ball to give the home side a two-goal cushion. College's Robbie Griffin was lively in the second half, but Drogheda held tight for a deserved victory.
ST PATRICK'S ATH 3-0 DUBLIN CITYThree goals inside the first quarter of an hour saw Premier Division St Pat’s advance despite the best efforts of John Gill's Dublin City at Richmond Park. The home side opened the scoring with just five minutes gone when Alan O'Connor surrendered possession just short of his penalty area to Darragh Maguire who released David Freeman to tap home.
A Keith Fahey corner was headed home by midfielder Paul Osam two minutes later, and the Vikings' defence undone for a third time in the 15th minute. 19-year-old Fahey was again the provider as Charles Mbabzi glided past two defenders before finding Brendan Kennedy's net.
CORK CITY 1-0 SHAMROCK ROVERSPat Dolan's side moved into second in the eircom League Premier Division despite the 35th minute sending-off of defender Alan Bennett. Referee Jimmy O'Neill dismissed Bennet for pulling down Rovers' forward Glen Fitzpatrick as he raced through on goal, but City had the last laugh with John O'Flynn netting the only goal in the 65th minute.
It was Cork's first win in five games on a night when boss Dolan was banned from the technical area and former City favourite Alan Reynolds, now a Rovers' midfielder, received a hot reception from the Shed, with one particular banner stating 'Reynolds rot in Hell'. O’Flynn's twelfth of the season came when he followed home a rebound from a Kevin Doyle shot which was initially parried by Hoops' stopper Barry Ryan
