Damien Duff has met Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri to discuss a possible move to Stamford Bridge. This follows from lengthy talks with the west-London club, which began after Blackburn Rovers agreed a £17m fee for the Irish international.
Duff flew into London yesterday accompanied by his agent Pat Devlin, after spending a day in Dublin to discuss his future with his family. Both Devlin and Duff sat down with Ranieri yesterday to discuss the Chelsea manager's plans should the winger link up with his team for the coming season. Devlin told the BBC: "We met Mr Ranieri yesterday and things went well. It's down to Damien now - no-one's going to pressurise him".
Devlin went on to deny speculation that Manchester United were poised to put in an 11th hour bid for the player, " It's very simple - he either stays at Blackburn or he goes to Chelsea. It's one or the other. There's been no interest from Manchester United that I'm aware of. If there was I'm sure Blackburn would have alerted not only ourselves but Chelsea as well".
