Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has been tipped by the Spanish press to take over from Vincente del Bosque as Real Madrid coach next season.
Del Bosque is to leave his post as Real manager after the club's board voted unanimously Monday not to renew his contract - despite the fact that the manager had just delivered the Primera Liga title to the Bernabeu.
The 52-year-old manager has also won two Champions League titles, the Intercontinental Cup, and the Primera Liga in 2001, and his sacking has come as a major surprise to many.
However, the Spanish media have already installed Queiroz as the favourite to take over in Madrid, however the formerly coach of Portugal, Sporting Lisbon and South Africa is remaining tight-lipped and said; "I'm on holiday at the moment so you'll understand I can't say anything about it."
Queiroz has made a big impression at Old Trafford and many point to his arrival at the start of the season a major turning point for United, who had finished the previous season without any silverware.
