UEFA have awarded Albania Under-21s a default 3-0 victory over their Republic of Ireland counterparts after the Irish accidentally fielded a suspended player last week. The situation came to light this week and, as expected, the European governing body docked the points won.
Liam Miller played the game despite having earned two bookings in previous qualifiers against Russia and Albania. The FAI apologised to UEFA earlier in the week after being informed of the mistake and an internal report on the issue has been requested by the association's new chief executive, Fran Rooney.
